He changed his last name and added his mother's name as Yevtushenko. Thus he named himself as Yevgeny Aleksandrovich Yevtushenko. Now he is commonly known as Yevgeny Yevtushenko.

His Early Life- Yevtushenko was born in the Irkutsk region of  Siberia in a small town called Zima on 18th July1933. He belonged to a peasant family of noble descent. By 10 years old he composed his first poem and 6 years later it was published in a sports journal. At 19 he published his first book of poems, "The Prospect of the Future." In 1952 he joined the Union of Soviet Writers after the publication of his first collection of poetry. His early poem, ' So Mnoyu Vot Chto Proiskhodit'  (That's is what is happening to me) became a very popular song. In 1955 he wrote a poem on Soviet borders for being an obstacle to his life. In 1956 his first important publication came out. It was "Stantsiya Zima" means Zima Station. In 1957 he was expelled from the Literary Institute for " Individualism".  He was banned from travelling.
